Welcome to The Savory Bite! I’m Katherine, a newly minted adult attempting to navigate life after college in the world of Silicon Valley. A few years ago, I fell wildly in love with food. Food that nourishes the body, satisfies the taste buds, and delights the senses. Recipes that capture the simple satisfaction of gathering the freshest ingredients, applying the perfect amount of alchemy, and creating a meal infinitely more delicious than the sum of its parts.
As the love affair continued, my philosophy around eating and living evolved with it. There’s no dieting or depravation. No counting calories or bright neon labels. It’s simply about embracing fresh, seasonal, nutrient-dense ingredients and preparing them in conscious, mindful ways.
We live in world where farmer’s markets are energetically sprouting up on every street corner and supermarket shelves are overflowing with vibrant organic produce. With the rise of the sustainable food movement, the old standbys of microwavable dinners, high-fructose corn syrup, and pillow-white bread are quickly being uprooted. All this, married with the globalization of food cultures across the world, and we’ve entered a new era – one in which satisfying our taste buds and nourishing our cells (while perhaps holding down a 9 to 5) need not be a compromise.
This little corner of the Internet is a celebration of the movement towards freshness. Towards local fruit picked at the peak of ripeness, vegetables coaxed to life in mineral-rich earth, sustainably caught fish, and eggs with vivid orange yolks from happy pasture-raised hens. It’s a reminder to take a deep breath and slow down, to become more intentional about what we choose to nourish our bodies with.
As I experiment away in my tiny little kitchen, this space will be a reflection of my uncensored culinary adventures – sweet, savory, and every nuance in between.
Thanks for visiting!
